Welcoming the Jewish New Year of 5787 we look to the many opportunities for celebration ahead of us.
The sheer number—5787—in the Jewish calendar is a reminder to us, not only of our rich history, but the incredible inheritance that has been placed into our hands. From the High Holy Days we move to the joy of Sukkot—shaking the lulav and etrog as a symbol of blessing—and celebrating the original Thanksgiving holiday of the Jewish People—to Simchat Torah, marking the completion of the reading of the Torah and beginning it again, part of life’s cycles, reminding ourselves there is always something new to learn as we grow and dance with the Torah—to some weeks later, welcoming the Festival of Lights, Chanukah, which continues the Jewish story with light and laughter and song. Tu B”shvat, Purim , Pesach and Shavuot await in the first part of 2027, and rich oppoertunities to celebrate and learn more about our opwn Jewish identity and culture. Am Yisrael Chai!
Bayit Shelanu Synagogue was founded 19 years ago, particularly to celebrate the High Holy Days, but to also encourage you to seek out Jewish experiences throughout the year in synagogues and organizations wherever you are.
