Dear Congregation,

With deep gratitude for his life, and great sadness at his passing, we are letting you know that the co-founder and co-President of Bayit Shelanu Synagogue, Matthew Solomon, passed away on Monday, February 2nd at the age of 95 1/2. He is now reunited with his wife, Marion, who awaits him after 68 years of cherished marriage. As a beloved husband, father, grandfather, philanthropist, life-long learner, co-founder of our synagogue, banker, enlisted patriot, individualist, renaissance man, and gentle leader who brought people together, he elevated all around him and will be dearly missed in our community. An inspiring and loving father to my wife, Bonnie, and my brother-in-law, Glenn Solomon, his legacy lives through them. Our friend sent these words:

“ The amount of good things in our life depends on our ability to notice them.”  That was Matt’s attitude as he noticed the good in all.

We celebrate his indomitable spirit.
