The New Year is HERE!
Dear Friends,
Night after night this month, I have followed the moon and watched its cycle unfold.
There is something reassuring about it – the light growing, then diminishing, and finally beginning again. And now the new moon brings with it Rosh Hashanah, the first day of Tishrei: a fresh start, a new beginning. And, of course, an invitation to enjoy apples and honey, round challah, familiar melodies, and the stirring sounds of the shofar calling us home.
This Saturday morning, we come together to welcome 5787 and to celebrate something else very special: 19 years of gathering as Bayit Shelanu.
For 19 years, we have created a Jewish home together – a bayit shelanu, a house of our own—built not of walls, but of friendship, community, tradition, music, memory, laughter, prayer and the joy of being together. We are excited to share the traditions we love with you again this year – and perhaps a few surprises we have in store.
Whether you will be joining us in person at our Synagogue by the Sea at the Annenberg Community Beach House or through our Livestream, we welcome you. Our staff, our wonderful musicians, our Cantorial Soloist Rena Strober, and I are looking forward to celebrating the New Year with you.

***A special note for those joining us in person: please plan to arrive early. Because Rosh Hashanah falls on a Saturday this year – and September can still be a beautiful beach weekend – parking may be busy. Please also be sure to check the posted parking signs when you arrive.
